Recent ActivityInstructor: Jason Miller
The East McDowell Trojan Band is under the direction of Jason Miller. Mr. Miller comes to EMJHS from Mars Hill, NC. He received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Mars Hill College in 2006. Mr. Miller grew up in Clyde, NC. The band program currently has over 100 members.

Winter Band ConcertThe Winter Band Concert date has changed! The Winter Band Concert will be on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at 7:00PM in the auditorium at East McDowell Junior High School. There will not be an admission charge, but donations will be accepted. All band students will be participating in the concert. Please join us to celebrate their accomplishments so far this year.
After School Practice on WednesdaysStudents will be able to stay after school each week on Wednesday until 3:45 PM to practice their instrument and receive individual help from Mr. Miller. This is an optional practice session for all band students. Students that stay for the open practice session will not be required to take their instrument home that day. Students will need to be picked up in the car rider area at 3:45 or have written permission to be able to walk home (one note for the entire year). There will be some weeks the open practice session will not be offered. Mr. Miller will make every effort to notify students at least one day in advance when possible. Please continue to encourage your student to practice daily!
