Testing Review Help

Our school now has access to a great resource for preparing our students for the test.  We are using a web-based program called Study Island, which is accessible to students from school or home.  If you have Internet access, your child can access Study Island from home to prepare for the state assessments.  The website is  http://www.studyisland.com.  Students have been given a user name and password. Please continue over the summer to access this website to prepare for the 2008-2009 school year!

Because of the budget cuts and unemployment rates in McDowell County this year, our theme for Make A Difference Day -- SUPPORT OUR SCHOOLSOctober 24 (MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY) bring your items to the Tailgate Market in Marion. The Volunteer Center will be there collecting items from 10:00 to 1:00.Remember, the items on the attached list are what the schools in our county most needed, but you can collect any items that would benefit the schools or others sponsored activities or groups. Many people are in need. Look at what they need, and collect it.

PEOPLE TO PEOPLE AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

Traveling to the South Pacific, Asia, Europe and many other destinations, People to People Student Ambassador Programs offer students in grades 5-12 life-changing educational travel opportunities that foster friendship, build the foundation for personal success, and offer unique access to people, places, and activities. Program delegations are built around local communities, so students make friends locally before they travel globally.

The program invites nominated students to build their leadership skills during a People to People Leadership Program. For more information please visit the People to People Leadership Program's website. Anyone that is interested in the People to People program, or knows of someone that falls into the leadership category and would be a good ambassador, please contact Mr. Clark at 652-7711.
